You see, while visiting the parrots who like to eat carrots, Andrew and his backpack become the target of a hungry flock of birds. They flap down and pick Andrew up, and although he is soon let down gently on top of a clown, he loses a shoe. Thus begins the humorous adventure of trying to navigate the zoo – and find the kangaroos – with only one shoe.

Before long, Andrew’s sock is missing too, and then a bat steals his hat. He slips on a banana peel, rips a hole in his pants, and then falls on some ants. The ants in his pants, of course, make him dance, and the amusing misadventures continue.

Poor Andrew can’t help but wonder if anything else can go wrong. By the time he finds the kangaroos that inspired his trip to the zoo, he thinks his feet have grown! But then a helpful joey (a baby kangaroo) comes to his rescue with the one item Andrew has all but given up on.
